You Can Fight a Solicitation Charge
Twin Cities-area law enforcement agencies are known for setting up prostitution stings. A female police officer posing as a prostitute will attempt to catch an unsuspecting "john" in the act of soliciting sex for money either by phone, the internet or while in the community.
If you have been arrested by police as the result of a prostitution enforcement operation, you know the feelings of anger, shame and injustice that can accompany a sexual solicitation arrest.
I am attorney Laura Kelly Valentine. I understand what goes on in prostitution arrests and have experience in defending clients who are accused of either soliciting a prostitute or accepting a solicitation for payment.
To discuss your situation confidentially with a lawyer who will listen, but not judge, call me in Burnsville, Minnesota, at 952-236-4078 or 866-929-3068 toll free.
Helping Accused 'Johns' Avoid Jail | South Metro Solicitation Defense
According to Minnesota law, the punishment for soliciting a prostitute is up to 90 days in jail and a fine between $500 and $1,000. In real terms, the punishment is much greater. In certain careers, a conviction can cost you your job. A conviction can also cause long-term problems when seeking employment or admission to a school or college.
These consequences are sobering. However, an arrest for soliciting prostitution is not the same as a conviction. Depending on the circumstances, I can work with prosecutors to have your case dismissed or to lessen any penalties.
If this is your first arrest, it is possible that you could walk away without any penalty other than a binding promise not to do it again. If you are a repeat offender, I will work to keep the black mark off your record.
